About the job As part of our investment into Technology, Operations and Product, Kantar is looking for a talented Senior Engineering Manager - Data to lead and build our data engineering practices. This role is crucial as it will define and drive the future of our enterprise data platform, impacting how we develop and implement new data products. The person in this role will partner with software engineering, architects, product, and data science teams to ensure sustainable and governed data engineering. This role is part of Kantar’s new incubation unit, focused on developing high-profile products and platforms. The Senior Engineering Manager will work closely with Global MD, Solution Leaders, and Finance to accelerate growth in Brand & CX, support on large scale pitches, and engage with clients on strategically important discussions and opportunities. Job Goals
- Build and manage a team of data engineers to deliver and maintain our ambitious roadmap
- Collaborate with architects and SMEs to agree on the technology strategy, roadmap, and implementation plans, and lead the team to execute them
- Develop relationships with internal and external business partners, engineering, product, and data science teams
- Standardize data engineering practices through pipelines and frameworks
- Maintain enterprise data assets and production pipelines across our consumer ecosystem
- Champion high-quality data engineering practices and fast-feedback loops while driving secure practices
- Hands-on experience as a lead data engineer or data architect.
- Experience with modern data stack technologies, particularly Microsoft Fabric and Databricks or alternatives.
- Ability to coach data engineers, enabling them to solve problems through self-learning.
- Strategic thinking and goal-setting that inspire teams to innovate and remain motivated.
- Competence in analyzing complex issues and creating plans to drive improvement.
- Skill in forging constructive and supportive relationships.
- Understanding of shorter-term operating needs within a longer-term strategic context.
- Expertise in interviewing and managing the performance and development of data engineers.
- Proven track record in improving quality at all stages of development.
- Capability to understand business goals and metrics, turn data into insights, and translate requirements into actionable analysis.
