Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated R&D engineer with keen interest in the application of state-of-the art ML techniques for unleashing the potential of upcoming (B5G/6G) Communication Networks and Applications . The ideal candidate will possess relevant R&D experience in academia and/or industry and be driven to both technically lead and contribute to R&D projects applying modern networking technologies alongside AI-driven solutions to develop cutting-edge R&D solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, conduct, and oversee advanced research projects focused on leveraging next-generation mobile networks and related technologies (e.g. edge computing, virtualized or containerized network functions or network applications, secure communication fabrics) for advanced use cases and applications.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including software developers, network engineers, data scientists or AI engineers, to integrate research insights into practical applications.
- Contribute to multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery and achievement of project goals.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior researchers and team members, fostering their professional growth and development.
Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Telecommunications Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
- A PhD in relevant field will be highly valued.
Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in academia or industry, focusing on mobile networks, edge computing, or related areas.
- Proven track record of successfully leading or contributing to national or international research activities.
- Experience in usage or contribution to relevant open-source tools, ideally from organizations including ETSI Software Development Groups (SDGs) or Linux Foundation Networking (LFN) in domains including networking, APIs, wireless or security.
- Good understanding of pragmatic AI/ML application in Telecommunications contexts.
Skills:
- Configuration and usage of network virtualization technologies, proficiency in scripting and at least one programming language (e.g., C, C++, Rust).
- Knowledgeable about mobile network standards, architectures or protocols, network programmability and edge computing paradigms.
- Development of integration of ML models into applications for data analysis, predictive analytics or automation, using relevant AI frameworks and libraries (e.g. TensorFlow, PyTorch).
- Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team environment.
- Innovative and critical thinking abilities to address research and technical challenges in modern Telecommunications systems, including the integration of AI-enabled solutions.
