This is the job: System Engineer
- Portugal
- Remote
- Proficiency in English (mandatory)
These are the essential skills:
- You have 3+/5+ years of experience as a system engineer;
- You have basic understanding of networking concepts, and network infrastructure components such as routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers.
- You are proficient in Python and know your way around bash as well.
- You are familiar with tools like Chef for managing and maintaining configuration consistency across systems.
- Proficient in building and consuming RESTful APIs for integrating network services and automation tools;
- Proficient in using version control systems like Git for collaborative development and code management;
- Common Linux distributions knowledge (Ubuntu, and optionally Red Hat, Debian);
- Good understanding of databases like MySQL.
- A solid ability to troubleshoot network-related issues and experience with network monitoring tools.
- Knowledge of tools such as Grafana or Elasticsearch.
Nice to have:
- Knowledge of Icinga and Prometheus.
- Knowledge of IP addresses and subnetting, DHCP, VLANs;
- Basic knowledge of (or curiosity for) ISP-related technologies such as servers’hardware and cloud technologies.
- Interest in infrastructure automation.
